Historic Indiana Ghost Walks Tours

real ghost stories based on real research from true believers™

Anyone have any ghostly plans for that weekend? Anyone have any comments on what Halloween means in general, spiritual, or otherwise?

I have to trick or treat my daughters around somewhere, and we will have an elementary school party that Friday. Otherwise I will leave some goodies outside for the spirits and see what a couple of the local groups are doing down here and maybe hang with them, since it will be a weekend.

Halloween... on a weekend....it has been a while! :)

As you have noticed we have put our plans out there for tours that weekend. We were very fortunate and have a group of people who wanted a bus tour on Nov 1st, the day of the death, so we aren't sure if we will have walking tours on that day - its the Saturday, true, but.....

We have also not scheduled as many tours as in the last years - we want to see those filling up first and then decide based on that if we offer more - so...book as soon as you can - there might not be more!

We have so many private tours and library speeches this year, its busy enough!

I thought it would be fun to see what everyone had planned since we do have a whole weekend :) I knew you would be booking up and here in Evansville Willard Library always has some kind of ghost tours to find the Grey Lady, lol. I have had my own experiences on the lower level there, as well as Justine's experiences in the children's section.
Doubt the Grey Lady will be bothered and show just when a bunch of folks are there ;)

Take pictures of whatever you do and post them here! :)
The Grey Lady seems to perform randomly. I was with friends driving by the library late one night on division street and saw a face in one of the lower windows, and we actually backed the car up for a better look, lol. Glad a cop wasn't there at the time, would have just told him we were checking out a face in the window, lol. My experiences were in the bathroom down stairs. At two different times I went in a stall, the water came on and toilets flushed and no one was in there with me. Yes, these are automatic and still no one was moving about to cause them to come on, lol. I told the libarian in case the automatic eye things were on the fritz, but she said it happens to other people. Justine had the more interesting experiences in the children's section, but folks will have to buy your book to get that story :)
I am really thinking about traveling up to Peru, IN and checking out Okie Panokie. I don't know much about it yet. I just found it today on some site and it looks very interesting. This is such a fun year! I can't believe I have a whole weekend for Halloween! I definitely know I will be heading out to all of our cemeteries and to Main Street graveyard and Perkinsville to take some pictures. I wish there was some sort of local ghost team that I could join. It is so hard working 6-6 Monday through Friday and 7am-1 on Sat and sunday and trying to get out of town for an evening to do somehting. If you here of anything in the Madison County area, please let me know!
What the heck are you working with these hours??? Sounds like either self employed/own business or couple jobs...well...who doesn't......lol..

I work in my mothers daycare and then as a morning manager at Arbys on the weekend. It sucks!
You work at the haunted Arby's? :)
Lol, sorry, I haven't filled NicoleK in yet... she doesn't think its the haunted one.... we have to call them and find out :)

Too busy September!!!
I watched a youtube of Okie Pinoke, and when I checked the aerial maps was totally dissapointed. The video was crap and a bunch of scared over nothing young people. The aerial map shows scraped raw land off the river, a few crappy trees and a bunch of junk littering the ground. Junk meaning, broken cars, furniture, heavy metal stuff, etc...Not worth a trip and I could never find corroberation of any of the "legends" or stories about the place. If you go, wear boots and jeans due to all the junk and debris. Watch out for anyone already there partying, you never know in places like this who is already there. I would be more concerned with live people that show up rather than any spirits, and that is pretty sad.
Nikki and I have been to Main Street Graveyard and that is not its real name. We never went together though, bummer. I have seen current pics from Nikki and I am upset over the vandalism that has occurred. This is a place to have permission before you go!! Linzi, I am not saying you would vandalise anything at all, but this poor cemetery had been through a lot of desecration over the years. There are a lot, I mean a lot of uncorroberated stories about the place, lol. I would still like to go there during the day for photos of the bridge and what is left of the cemetery! Isn't this cemetery in your first book Nikki?! Didn't you lay this one to rest? Talk about urban legends!
It is actually called Hay's Cemetery and you don't need permission to go back there. It is a very interesting place...I was there about a month ago because my mother had never been. There isn't so much vandalism as there is "planted" items to scare people. Such as, there are always shoes left out there to scare people, or there will be a red stained shirt laying out by a headstone. But, it's just children looking for a good spook...not giving it any excuse at all...don't think that! But, it's really not as bad as you have heard. Yes, lots of legends. If you want to hear some interesting stories...look up information on the pioneer cemeteries out by perkinsville. There are stories about a family that would take in travelers and they were like hermits...well, I won't go into the whole story, but the house was out past Edgewood (no exact location), but supposedly, this family murdered some of the travelers that they took in and some of the areas have had activity.
