real ghost stories based on real research from true believers™
I was wondering if anyone knows of any strange stories they may have heard about the Wildcat Creek Apartment complex in Kokomo, or if anyone has had or knows someone who has had any unexplained experiences there? Any info would be appreciated.
UPDATE 3/22/10:
I wanted to give everyone an idea of what has been going on, and why exactly I'm looking for info about the apartments. My sister is currently living at these apartments, and has been experiencing some interesting activity that we can't explain. I believe it started one night while she was living with her boyfriend. They heard a noise in the kitchen that sounded like something being dragged or scooted across the counter or floor, when they went to see what the noise was, they found their toaster, which they usually leaving sitting with the back end up against the wall, was now sitting in the middle of the counter and turned sideways. When they went back to the living room they found several dvds that had been on a dvd stand, on the floor. They pretty much disregarded both things because they figured one of them had moved the toaster earlier and the dvds could maybe be explained by the cats they had at the time. Since then, she has broken up with her boyfriend, and he moved out and took the cats with him, but the activity happens almost everyday now.
Right after the boyfriend moved out, things started sort of disappearing. First it was a flash drive from her desk, then a dvd, and even her hair straightner from the bathroom. We thought maybe her ex had come in and maybe taken her things, or maybe even someone with a key from the office, so she would leave a few dollars out everytime she would leave to see if anyone would take the money and no one ever did. My sister has since found the hair straightner behind a box in the closet, and just this weekend discovered her flash drive laying front and center on her desk like it had been put there for her to find. My sister says most of the activity is centered around the kitchen. Every night between 11 pm an 1 am, she says she feels like the air in the room gets heavier and heavier, and eventually she starts to feel so uncomfortable that she has to go into her bedroom. Almost every night she hears noises coming form the kitchen that she says sound like someone cooking and moving pans, but she never finds anything out of place. One night she heard what sounded like a cabinet door closing, and then the sound of plastic hitting the floor, she went out to check, thinking someone was actually in the apt and found a plastic cup on the floor. Sometimes when she comes home from work at night she finds that some of the lights have been turned on. The activity escalated last Wednesday night when my sister came home from work. She says she came home around 10:30 pm, and went through her regular routine of locking the door (knob lock, dead bolt, and a loop that comes off the wall and hooks over the knob) and then checking each room and the closets to make sure there isn't anyone in the apt. She started doing this after the boyfriend moved out and the activity picked up because she worries someone is breaking in. She then spent the next few hours at the computer and watching TV in the living room. Around 1:45, she went to her bedroom changed clothes and came back out through the living room and into the kitchen to get a drink. She had been in the bedroom less than 15 min. When she turned around, she noticed that there was a lot of light coming from around the door. When she walked closer she realized her door was standing open. The knob had been unlock, dead bolt unlocked, and the loop over the knob had been taken off. It pretty much scared the crap out of her, and she spent the rest of the night with every light in the apt on. The next day when she called our dad, he went over and tried to get the loop off the handle from the outside, but couldn't. He said short of ripping the handle off the door or ripping the loop off the wall there was no way to get it off. That same day the apt complex changed her locks.
So this weekend we decided we would set up a camera and then leave and see what happened, thinking that if anyone was going to break in now, it had to be someone from the office because now there was no way the ex-boyfriend would have a key. We only had 34 mins of tape left, but we set up the camera facing the door, and left to get more tape. When we got back to her apt, I started playing the tape, less than one minute after my sister and I leave the room the noises started. First there was a thump, and then some type of knocking that started out quiet and slowly got louder and then tapered off. The whole tape was full of noises, and we pretty much have 34 straight minutes of strange noises, banging, rustling, even something that at one point sounded like a growl, but no one ever came through that door. We had placed that camera with its back towards the kitchen, and honestly that's where it sounded like almost all of the noise was coming from. Now my sister is terrified to sleep in the apt, but the activity happens more when she has been gone for a day or two. My sister's theory is that if there is something there it misses her when she's gone.
I talked to her today, and she had set up a voice recorder yesterday when she got home from work, and decided she would just try to have a conversation with whatever might be there. She asked if it had a good day, she talked about her's, and said she was sorry she got home late. When she replayed the tape, she found that right after she asked about its day, this noise that sounds like a lawn mower starts on the tape and lasts throughout the conversation. When she got to the end she started recording again and asked thet same questions, but that time got no noise. So we aren't sure what it means.
Anyway, this is urgent to my sister, because she lives alone and has to deal with this almost every single night. She tries to sleep at friends' houses when she can, but that just seems to make it worse when she does go home. So if anyone can provide us with info on the apt, or has had anything happen there or knows someone who does please let me know. Her lease isn't up until Aug, so she still has a long time to live with this.
