real ghost stories based on real research from true believers™

In my constant hunt for new devices to use in research I came upon this app the other day and wondered if anyone had tried it yet. It's an EMF detector for an android phone. It looks like a really cool and inexpensive way (minus the cost of the phone of course) to always have an EMF detector on hand. If anyone has used it or if you just want to check it out here's the link.

Also wondered if anyone had tried using a photo theremin in any of their investigations? I recently built one (under $15) and it seems like it could be an interesting tool. Haven't had the chance to use it in the field yet, thank you Indiana winter, and am anxious to try it out. I've tested it with normal, IR and UV lighting and it functions well with each so is pretty versitile. It essentially works as a close proximity motion detector with an audible output.

Getting ready to play around with some Tesla coil circuits that plug directly into the audio input of my laptop so I can record the results. What can I say, it worked for Tesla in 1905. I'll post any results if I can get it working.

Well, I was skeptical until I verified that IBM also mentions there is a magnetic field sensor built into the android development platform (not sure if all phone must have it).

Also not sure if its made for measuring the way purpose built EMF detectors are.

I really would like to try one of these professional kind ones:

There is another company, I need to locate again I wanted to try.

From what I've read so far it appears that most of the Smart Phones have the MF sensor built in. Not sure if this particular app will work on anything but an Android but the technology potential is evidently there in most of them. Any phone that has internet functions probably has the sensor for detection of WiFi signals. It's the interface that makes it all possible though and most older phones don't have that.

Checked out the meters on Trifield.com and those are indeed some beauties. The heart of most all EMF meters is still the LM324N (or similar) low voltage quad op amp which is ideal for paranormal applications. The main differences is in the probe sensitivity and adjustability. I use a K-2 and it even uses that chip. Might not have the nice digital display or fine tuning of some of the higher priced models but the basic function is still there. The ability to read in milliGauss or Tesla is also a nice feature which also impressed me about the Android phone app. Plus at $4.99 it's not much of a risk. Don't know how many times I've wished I'd had a meter on me when I was out somewhere and that would solve that problem. Now just need the phone. lol.
